While the Paleo or the Caveman diet sounds simple people often remain confused about exactly what they should eat. Legumes including peanuts are avoided as these drive up insulin production. The same is true of potatoes and refined vegetable oils. Avoid too much salt. Most people will take in enough salt through food, so the generous helpings heaped on modern foods are unnecessary.

The best part of any diet is what’s on the menu. Fresh fruits and vegetables, especially leafy vegetables are found in this diet. Nuts and seeds with the exception of legumes. Eggs are on the diet, but only those from pasteurized chickens if possible. Grass-produced meats are allowed, but not meats that aren’t organically raised. Fish and seafood are a part of this diet with no restrictions. Oils found listed on this diet include olive, coconut, flax-seed, walnut, macadamia, and avocado.
